2027 Open Enrollment dates

November 1, 2026

Open Enrollment begins for 2027 coverage.

December 15, 2026

Last day to pick a plan for coverage that starts January 1.

January 15, 2027

After January 15, you can usually only enroll or change plans if you have a qualifying life event, like losing other coverage, moving, getting married or having a baby.

What's different for 2027

Higher out-of-pocket limits

The most a plan can make you pay for covered in-network care in 2027 is $12,000 for one person and $24,000 for a family. Many plans are lower, so it's worth comparing.

No cap on paying back savings

If your income ends up higher than you estimated, you may have to pay back all of the extra premium savings at tax time. A careful income estimate matters more than it used to.

HSA-eligible plans

All bronze and catastrophic Marketplace plans now work with a Health Savings Account, which lets you set money aside for medical costs before taxes.

Plans and prices change

Even if you're happy with your plan, your premium, network or drug list may be different for 2027. If you let it renew on its own, you may miss a better fit.

How Marketplace savings work

  • Premium tax credits lower your monthly premium. The amount is based on your estimated 2027 household income and household size.
  • Cost-sharing reductions can lower your deductible and copays on silver plans if your income qualifies.
  • An offer of affordable coverage through a job, yours or a family member's, can affect whether you qualify for savings, even if you turned it down.
  • Report changes in income or household during the year so your savings stay accurate.

How we help

Compare plans

We look at premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket costs side by side, based on how you actually use care.

Check your doctors and drugs

We check which plans have your doctors and hospital in network and how your prescriptions are covered.

Get the income estimate right

We walk through what counts as income for the Marketplace so your savings are as accurate as possible.

2027 ACA questions we hear a lot

When is Open Enrollment for 2027 health insurance?

Open Enrollment runs from November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027. Pick a plan by December 15 for coverage that starts January 1. Plans picked between December 16 and January 15 start February 1.

Does it cost more to enroll through an agent?

No. Your premium is the same whether you enroll with us or on your own. Agents are paid by the insurance company, not by you.

Can I get help paying for my premium?

Many people can. Premium tax credits are based on your estimated household income and household size. The easiest way to know what you qualify for is to let us run your numbers.

What happens if my income changes during the year?

Report it to the Marketplace as soon as you can. If your income ends up higher than your estimate, you may have to pay back extra premium savings when you file taxes, and starting in 2026 there is no cap on that repayment. If your income goes down, you may qualify for more savings.

What if I miss the January 15 deadline?

You'll usually need a qualifying life event to enroll before next Open Enrollment, such as losing job-based coverage, moving, getting married or having a baby. Most life events give you 60 days to enroll.

Can I use an HSA with a Marketplace plan?

Yes, with an HSA-eligible plan. All bronze and catastrophic Marketplace plans now qualify. Premium savings can't be used on catastrophic plans, though, so a bronze plan is often the better choice if you qualify for savings.

I'm turning 65. Should I stay on my Marketplace plan?

Usually not. Once you're eligible for Medicare, you generally can't keep Marketplace savings, and waiting to sign up for Medicare can lead to late penalties. Call Jennifer before your 65th birthday and we'll help you switch at the right time.
